MIAMI HOSPITALITY DESIGN AWARDS CRITERIA AND CATEGORIES

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

The Miami Hospitality Design Awards encourage excellence in architecture, elevate public consciousness of great design and recognizes the architecture and design firms and hospitality venues whose work enriches our built environment.

Project entries must be located in Miami-Dade County and have been completed from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2018.

All project entries must include a licensed architect, from anywhere in the world, as a member of the Project Team (architect, designer, construction partner and hospitality venue). However, the project entry may be submitted by the architect, designer or venue and ALL project team members must be included in the submission for it to be considered. We encourage entry fee and submission coordination.

CATEGORIES INCLUDE:

Hotel:

  1. Overall Hotel (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the overall design of a hotel. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  2. Hotel Lobby/Reception (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Lobby and/or Reception area within a hotel. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  3. Hotel Restaurant (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Restaurant within a hotel. This category also includes pop-up and temporary restaurants or cafes. Judges will take into account functionality and fit-for-purpose design. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  4. Hotel Nightclub, Bar, Lounge (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Nightclub, Bar or Lounge within a hotel. Judges will take into account functionality and fit-for-purpose design. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  5. Hotel Outdoor Divine Detail (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of an Outdoor area within a hotel property. This may include pool decks, courtyards, forecourts, porte cocheres, garden areas, roof top decks and patios. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  6. Hotel Spa/Fitness Area (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Spa or Fitness area within a hotel. Judges will focus on innovative design ideas that foster relaxation, well being and fitness. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  7. Hotel Guestroom (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Hotel Guestroom. Focus will be on unique solutions to improving the guest experience while providing function and beauty. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  8. Hotel Guest Suite (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Hotel Guest Suite (must have at least one bedroom). Judges will look for creative spaces, special ‘design moments’ and uniqueness. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  9. Hotel Retail Space (Up to 200 rooms and over 200 rooms)
    Recognizes excellence in the design of Hotel Retail. Projects can be gift shops or pop-up retail but must sell hard and/or soft goods. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  10. Best Overall People’s Choice Hotel Project
    This will be a project from the entire field of Hotel projects, selected by the public by popular vote.

Non-Hotel:

  1. Non-Hotel Nightclub, Bar, Lounge
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Non-Hotel Nightclub, Bar or Lounge. Judges will take into account functionality and fit-for-purpose design. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  2. Non-Hotel Restaurant Upscale
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Non-Hotel Restaurant. Judges will take into account functionality and fit-for-purpose design. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  3. Non-Hotel Restaurant and Food Hall Fast Casual
    Recognizes excellence in the design of a Non-Hotel Fast Casual Restaurant. This category also includes non-seated food service, pop-up and temporary restaurants or cafes. Judges will take into account functionality and fit-for-purpose design. Projects can be renovations or new construction.
  4. Best Overall People’s Choice Non-Hotel Nightclub, Bar, Lounge, Restaurant, Food Hall
    This will be a project from the entire field of Non-Hotel projects, selected by the public by popular vote.
